finally in October and what a treat.....these came from Mike and Lonnie, who bring deposits to my compose.  They didn't get them planted and knew i sometimes would want them.  I threw them in a big bin with a hole in the bottom.  They were happy but just now started blooming.

to catch up....we are liberating prime areas....new parallel trail joins existing trail to pond from "walnut greenhouse" current trail section, inhabited by the Baldfaced Hornet, is blocked until they get done with their paper nest on the ground right on the side of the trail. and heck why not have an alternate trail thru the very large wetland meadow.....wheeee

 Baldfaced Hornet photos, info and life cycle

update.....new Baldfaced Hornet nest encountered on the new loop trail to the pond.  hey, as long as we have the extreme weedeater!!!!!!   now i read the description on wikipedia describing this hornet as quite aggressive if neared and i must say both of our encounters (surprises both times), including hornets landing on humans arms,  resolved with humans backing slowly away and no stings occurred.. ....just sayin'
